Chef Jonathan Eismann's unpretentious Asian-American restaurant feels right at home in its spanking-new digs in the buzzy Design District. The simple decorwood tables and banquttes; bar with back-lit wine bottles; unusual Ping Pong ball-style chandeliersis an improvement on the original restaurant's utilitarian look. The updated menu focuses on well-priced snack-sized dishes and boldly flavored small platestry the crunchy hot and sour popcorn shrimp and the sheep's milk ricotta gnudi. Salt-and-pepper skate with parsnip purée should not be missed.
Tip: Survey the room from one of the high tables beside the bar (entrées, $18$32).
