The spa at Barvikha Luxury Village is quintessential Moscow—rich, dark wood interiors; elaborate treatments; and a supermodel wannabe clientele—and a perfect antidote to the gray, muddy city. However, while the hydro massage bath and bio-energy massage are not to be missed—but probably won't wow spa aficionados, especially given the prices. Barviha, after all, is in Ruyblovke, the ultra-tony enclave of dachas and estates just west of the capital, and it caters to the locals, meaning oligarchs and their twenty-year-old girlfriends. That said, the staff know what they're doing: To spend an afternoon being exfoliated, kneaded and otherwise revitalized at Barvikha is a wonderfully excessive experience, while the tastefully designed treatment rooms, featuring sleek, black-brown flooring, recessed lighting, capacious ceilings and tall windows, complement the first-rate service, including English-speaking masseuses, green tea and an array of jasmine-, mint-, fern- and honey-scented lotions that permeate the premises.
