Canyon Ranch junkies now have a third U.S. property in which to put their bodies through their paces. As at the other spas, this isn't about skin-deep beauty, so don't come here if you want to be coddled: The hotel is set up for lengthy, life-changing stays—all bedrooms have kitchens, food is calorie controlled, and guests are presented with a daily-changing timetable of classes that cater to psychological ("Embracing Your Shadow" lecture, anyone?) as well as physical well-being. We enjoyed leaping around an outdoor pool with a view of the sea during the "wet workout." The spa—Miami's largest, with 54 treatment rooms—is high-tech, with squeal-inducing tropical showers and several sauna and steam options, but let down by a dowdy, slightly dated earth-tone palette.
