Half the fun at this sprawling spa is the pre-massage treats: Come early to soak in the warm vitality pool or linger in the mint-scented mist showers. Exceptional spa attendants monitor the time guests spend in the steam and sauna and magically arrive poolside with a warm towel followed by a pot of detoxifying raspberry tea. The 14 treatment rooms, 5 of which are doubles, are comfortable but unassuming, with blond woods and cream tones. The focus is on deep kneads, with a small menu of targeted treatments for jet lag and aching muscles, as well as a handful of traditional Chinese therapies. The Four Seasons Signature Massage ($110) is anything but basic: Patient therapists begin by walking their hands along the body, in keeping with Chinese-style healing traditions, and then incorporate Thai massage stretching and pressure point techniques. Portuguese-inspired music lends a local flavor, while the essential oil blend of macadamia nut, vanilla, and coconut warms up bodies chilled by the hotel's somewhat arctic environment. Still cold? Try the Rose Hydrating Cocoon, in which the body is doused in damask rose oil, then wrapped in layers of heated blankets.
