What: A hushed, dark 3,180-square-foot spa on the twenty-ninth floor of the Shangri-La Hotel with a focus on Asian-inflected, seasonal treatments using local ingredients.
The look: The floating infinity lap pool just off the spa offers dazzling downtown Tokyo views, but Chi is as dim, moody, and fragrant as an old Asian apothecary shop. The homage to all things China continues in the six spacious treatment rooms with wrought-silver boxes and bright Tibetan textiles.
Who goes: Hotel guests, ladies who lunch, and local celebs.
The treatment: This being Japan, the emphasis is on massage; even the hour-and-a-half Rejuvenation Facial comes with your choice of full-body scrub.
