A great hotel to base yourself when touring the Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast is the Grand Hotel Royal on Via Correale, Sorrento. Positioned on the cliffs overlooking Marina Piccola with views across the Bay of Naples to Mount Vesuvius and Isola di Capri to the west. Tremendous sunsets over Capri. From Marina Piccola you can catch ferries to Positano, Ischia, Naples and of course Capri. Plus, two of our favourite restaurants in Italy are located in Sorrento: Z'Intonnio, where you eat with the locals and the superb La Buco. report a problemPosted on: January 25, 2012 at 10:43AM
I want to surprise my husband with a trip to Italy for our 25th anniversary.. We have gone to Rome, Venice and Florence. I have heard wonderful things about the Amalfi Coast, and Positano. We would like to enjoy beach, culture, fitness, great cuisine and wine.. is the Sorrento Hotel and he surrounding areas the place to go? DOn't know much about Italy--Naples??? Milan???? ALso if we went in September to cut down on cost would we still be able to experience the warm weather at the Amalfi Coast and the good restaurants??? I know in France, August is when alot of places shut down since that is when all the locals take their vacation. Appreciate any insight or advice.
