I want to highly recommend to visit the Phnom Kulen national park next to Siem Reap (Angkor). You can visit and swim in a waterfall, hike through deep jungle forests and visit ancient sites (Bantey Srei, Beng Mealea, 1000 Lingas) and pagodas. It is a wonderful area and definetly worth to stay another day in this region. Me and my family have done a 7 day discovery tour with a local tourism organization (www.terrecambodge.com) including the visit of the Angkor temples, a boat trip to the Tonle Sap and trekking through the Phnom Kulen mountain. A real highlight in this tour was an overnight in the pagoda on top of the Kulen mountain. It was a peaceful night and we really enjoyed the overview at the forest in the next morning.
