From the editors of Condé Nast Traveler:
In a 35-acre vineyard in the wine-growing Mendoza province, Cavas Wine Lodge features a wine cellar stocked with dozens of Argentina's notable labels (such as Felipe Rutini and Carlos Pulenta), vinotherapy baths in the spa, and an award-winning winery. In the Spanish colonial main house, sunlight floods the cavernous sitting room and kitchen. Each of the freestanding 750-square-foot adobe-walled units, set among the vines, has its own Andes-facing patio and plunge pool. A cool cream interior with bloodred llama-wool throws leads to a stone-clad bathroom with both a tub and a powerful shower. On the roof, a chill-out mattress allows 360-degree views of the vineyard. 2006 Hot ListWhen to go: The sun shines on Mendoza 330 days a year, but the February-through-April grape harvest is particularly colorful.
Which room to book: The six units farthest from the main house command unimpeded Andean views (doubles, $310).
Amenities: Bar/lounge, Gym, Pool, Spa
