The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is the home of the Willow Stream Spa. Located in a separate building from the hotel rooms the architect distanced the spa goer to set the scene for serenity. One step into the $10 million dollar facility set the stage for serenity with their polished stone water entry. I was lucky enoguth to be there during a winter rain. The aroma of the desert in rain is heady. My favorite treatment was the waterfall massage, no extra cost. What looked like a wall of water was a magnificent spot on self massage. I moved my shoulder and back between the falls’ thin streams and big deluges. I like to swim at night. The Fairmont has many pools but the pool on top of the Willow Stream is magical under a deep black desert night sky. Floating on my back, alone on the roof, I was an astronaut moving through the stars, weightless and serene. I slept like a baby that night. Isn’t that why we visit spas?
