Starting sometime in May for a very short time each year, you can go tubing on the Salt River, in Northeast Mesa. There is a concessions operator who will rent you inntertubes for yourself AND your ice chest (filled with your favorite snacks and beverages *in non-glass containers*). Once you have your tubes, getting to the river is easy: hop on the free provided buses and get off at any of the designated bus stops. Get in your tube and have a nice, COOL, relaxing float down the river. The Salt is a slow moving, shallow river - sometimes you may have to lift your "bum" to avoid a rock. You can float anytime from 2 hours to possibly 5 hours in one direction, flow dependent. Get back on the bus and go again, if you want. It is fun to see the look on your friends' faces when you tell them you went tubing in Arizona in the summer! For all the information you need on this activity, you can look at the Salt River Tubing website. report a problem
