Leichhardt is a must see if you love the atmosphere of Italy. It is not as odd as it might sound at first to recommend a visit to the Italian area when you visit Australia because Sydney is a big multicultural city and many hidden treasures can be found the ethnic centers. You will find authentic italian food including fresh made chocolates, pasta, bread and gelato! The shops are usually owned and run by 1st or 2nd generation italian immigrants and it is not uncommon to see husband and wife or father and son working side by side. As you enjoy great food and a convivial Italian atmosphere that is unmatched on this side of the world , you can also feast your eyes on the charming architecture as the old buildings and shop fronts are painted mediteranean pastel yellows, pinks and corals. An easy destination from downtown Sydney. Take bus numbers 436 or 440 from the city centre. report a problem
