It's worth braving the heat for the city's internationally renowned summer arts festival, held in July and August. However, spring is the best time to visit for sightseeing.

HOW TO GET THERE


Domestic flights arrive at Avignon airport, which is five miles southeast of the city center. The TGV from Paris takes 2 hours and 40 minutes, and runs 12 times a day.
