Concierge.com's insider take:
Located in the heart of Menorca's "Golden Triangle" (one of the island's most exclusive areas), Biniarroca is the creation of two British women (one an artist, the other a former fashion designer) and is the very antithesis of stark minimalism. The mood at this 18-room hotel reflects the owners' heritage, with chintzy lounge areas, pretty handmade quilts on the beds, and tea in the afternoons. The best rooms are the new garden suites that have private terraces, but if you are located in the main house, the gardens scented by tea roses and honeysuckle provide a labyrinth of hidden nooks and crannies to get some peace and quiet. Two Roman-style swimming pools guarded by marble maidens and inlaid with jade-green tiles ensure you're never crowded. A plus is the excellent restaurant, serving top-notch local ingredients, including figs, artichokes, Mahon cheese, and sobresada (Spanish-style soft 'salami').
