Concierge.com's insider take:
This 157-room fortresslike property opened in 2008 in Ibiza Town's new Marina Botafoch neighborhood. It looks a little corporate at first, but step inside and you'll find a cool, clean, minimal space and an overriding sensation of space and light. Extraordinary works of art are dotted about the place, such as Korean artist Bahk Seonghi's Suspended Staircase, a charcoal-colored chandelier that hangs between three floors. Even the flower arrangements are sculptural and change weekly—past examples include pools of esparto grass and soaring cactuses. The huge rooms are done in Champagne hues and bespoke art pieces; all have private terraces, and the best have views of D'Alt Vila (the old town, only a ten-minute walk away) and the coast. All rooms have cable TV, a stereo, a DVD library, and mood lighting. Bathrooms have double sinks and whirlpool tubs with TVs. There's a restaurant, Costa Mara, which infuses typical Ibicenco and Mediterranean dishes with a modern twist; an enormous pool and spa are divided by a large lawn lined with fragrant lavender. For visitors seeking a high standard of comfort, the Ibiza Gran Hotel is hard to beat. If you want to fit in some clubbing, Pacha is across the street; if you don't, you'll be glad to know the club is hidden behind tall white-washed walls and the hotel is well soundproofed.Tara Stevens
