Baltimore's hotel boomlet is a relatively recent phenomenon tied to the revitalization of the Inner Harbor in the early 1980s. If you're with your family, it's most convenient to stay in one of the big-name brands, such as the Marriott, Hyatt, or InterContinental, which have staked out the primo waterfront locations and are within walking distance of all Inner Harbor attractions. They'll have company in late 2010, when a Four Seasons hotel opens next door to the Marriott in Harbor East. Foodies and night owls will appreciate the boutique hotels in the city's historic Fells Point neighborhood, one mile east, which is known for its fine restaurants and funky bars.
