El Molí Wine Country Tours

I recently had the opportunity to visit several wineries in the Penedès region of Catauña, Spain (near to Barcelona). The trip was planned with several friends, and was expected to be a combination of bicycling between wineries during a long weekend, and enjoying the great food and ambiance of the region along the way. We booked the tour, including our accommodations, bicycles, winery visits, etc., through El Moli Wine Country Tours ( <> ) which is located in the heart of the Penedès region. The owner/director of the company, Paddy Mannion, took care of every detail, and accompanied us on all the visits, as well as following behind in his van to provide support in case someone had trouble with the riding portion of the route for the day. (This was just as well, as some of us were just a bit lazy and only wanted to ride down hills but not up them!) He booked our accommodations at the Cal Mestre located in Les Gunyoles d´Avinyonet ( <> ), which is a first class, and very comfortable, casa rural, conveniently located near to several very interesting wineries. During our tour we visited the Albet i Noya, Can Rafols del Caus, Nadal (Cavas), and Mas Comtal. We were all VERY satisfied with every aspect the tour, and would highly recommend El Moli Wine Country to anyone contemplating a similar visit. Make sure to book the guided tour option, as having Paddy accompany us on these visits significantly enhanced the quality and depth of the experience. In my opinion, his detailed knowledge of the wines of the region, along with his passion for the industry, made every visit much more rewarding than we would have likely experienced had we attempted to make these visits on our own.
