The service is uniformly welcoming and efficient at this smart, supremely comfortable tower in the rising business district northwest of the Forbidden City. The 253 stylish rooms are done in hues of imperial gold, burnt orange, and celadon, with elegant touches including a white duvet embossed with graceful Chinese characters and a roomy closet paneled in leather printed with the Ritz-Carlton logo to resemble an old-fashioned steamer trunk. Neighborhood views from the lower floors are quintessentially urban; Club Floor guests can look upon the Tibetan White Pagoda between bites from the all-day complimentary buffet in the executive lounge. There are plenty of fine dining options, and the Tea Apothecary under the banyan trees in the lobby is an atmospheric spot for an afternoon snack. The sleek gym has an enticing indoor pool with a wall on which movies are screened, and if you decide to head out for a run, you can take along the hotel's jogging map, which is printed on a handkerchief. The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Fitness & Salon is included among the 2007 Hot List Spas.
