Belgium rivals the US as the cartoon capital. Cartoons are even painted as murals on city buildings. One of the US’s most beloved cartoons, Les Schtroumpfs, was born in Belgium, 50 years ago. Of course in the US they are known as The Smurfs. Tintin was also born in Belgium. In 2007 there was a celebration of Tintin's creator's 100th birthday. The Belgian Center for Comic Strip Art is housed at Rue de Sables 20 in Brussels. report a problem
