I recently stayed at the Azul Resort in Ambergris Caye, Belize for my honeymoon. I have never experienced such a place as this! Ambergris Caye in itself is a beautiful destination, filled with genuinely friendly people and a super relaxed vibe.
The proprietors of the Azul Resort have melded that Belizean spirit with the taste and style of San Francisco. With only 2 villas, you are guaranteed a quiet, calm, secluded stay. Each villa has their own piece of the beach, with their own palapa covered hammocks.
The accommodations in the villas are truly top notch. Luxurious, comfortable beds; handmade furniture made from local wood. The kitchen features all high end appliances, but you won't be needing these. And all throughout the spacious villa, you are set at ease with its simplistic aesthetic and grace.
Chef Jeff, the mastermind behind the Rojo Lounge Restaurant connected to Azul, is an absolute genius in the kitchen. His playful flavor combinations will leave you inspired - and full! Influenced by both the US and Belize, you will receive a very varied, yet utterly enjoyable meal.
The staff at Azul Resort was the icing on the cake for the week. They are the most warm, friendly, genuine people we've yet met on our worldly travels. They are there to help you have the vacation you've always dreamed of. Whether it be sitting by the infiniti edge pool all day drinking cocktails (their frozen mojito really is that good), or if you are more adventurous, they are there to help with all your plans. Guided by their many relations, you are sure to have the best treatment with the top tour guides on the island.
And who wouldn't want that attention? They were so easy and accommodating with my now husband and I. One day he wanted to ride jet skis - so they arranged for jet skis to be waiting for us at the end of the dock. Want to go snorkeling? The reef is only a 20 minute kayak trip straight of the dock. A poolside massage at dusk? Azul arranged it all.
So - if you're looking for a bit of relaxed, comfortably, familiar luxury - this is your spot.
