Fishing in Hawaii is an amazing experience. Because the waters are so deep so close to shore you don't have to go way outhere to catch big game. There is always something to see or catch. The State has put FADs (fishing aggregation devices) all around the island in 1000of feet of water to attractt fish. Indeed you can see often fish (Mahi, Ahi, Aku) around the buoy and also other fish such as sharks. Sad to say that some fisherman don't like the sharks and I have seen one of them shoot one he had reeled to his boat. Hawaiian waters are clear and deep and can reveal unimaginable beauty and fun. Some Fishing coat captains require that you give them the catch which is crazy in my opinion as you are paying for the fuel, the boat rental and the crew fees. Ask around and pick what you like. If you are not going to eat it release the fish. We see smaller fish than what it used to be. Yes there is overfishing. Have fun in Hawaii.
