Visiting this museum is the first time I ever went to look at the architecture and NOT the contents of the museum. I spent more than an hour walking around the entire structure--a must to get the entire effect. We visited in September and on a weekday, so there were no crowds. The river promenade is wonderful to walk on and be sure to walk across the footbridge designed by Calatrava. There's a funny story about how the lights underneath failed as soon as it opened, so be sure to get this info from a local! Sunday is a great day to visit the grounds because everybody in Bilbao is out walking along the river. It's amazing how the dogs don't require leashes and they behave and stay with their person. This is a lovely setting.
