Bologna shopping
It has neither the fashion clout of Milan nor the antiquarian, bric-a-brac charm of Rome or Venice, but Bologna is still a fine place to shop if you know where to go. Many of the traditional artisans' shops still do a thriving tradelike cultish luxury cobbler Branchini Calzoleria (19 Strada Maggiore; 051 648 6642) or custom shirt- and suitmakers Zinelli (5 Piazza Mercanzia; 051 225 934). For one-stop fashion shopping, head for Galleria Cavour, a chic '60s-era mall just off central Via Farini, housing all the usual suspects (Armani, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana ). The city's delis and food markets, which overflow with gourmet treats, are Bologna's other unmissable shop-op.
