I have recently returned from a fabulous 2 weeks in Brazil and I have to say that the highlight of my trip was the 4 days I spent in a Cama e cafe in Santa Teresa. The owner (Ana Laura) and her family made me feel extremely welcome. The house also held the main office for the whole Cama e Cafe network and Daniella and Stephanie (The office Staff) were very nice and knowledgeable about all the things to see in do in the area. It felt like I was staying with family and not at a rented place. Santa Teresa is am area filled with artist and lovely cafe's and bars. I quickly got to know a few of them and they showed me a part of Rio that I would have never discovered if I had kept to the tourist areas near Copacabana or Ipenema. If you are looking for a real taste of Brazilian life, I suggest you forgo the high rise hotels on the beach for at least a little part of your stay and go hang with the locals up on the hill. You won't regret it. J.R. Gentle, Charlottesville, VA.
