British Virgin Islands nightlife
The BVI social scene includes classic beach bars like the Soggy Dollar, Seddy's One Love and Ivan's Stress Free (all share the same sugary coast of White Bay on Jost Van Dyke) that specialize in sandy-footed daytime drinkers, beach baskers and hammock swingers. Come sunset, though, yachties need to move to safer anchorage, which is when the action heats up at these night spots.
The nightlife scene on the British Virgin Islands includes classic beach bars like the Soggy Dollar, Seddy's One Love, and Ivan's Stress Free (all share the same sugary coast of White Bay on Jost Van Dyke). And you'll find at least one good beach bar on each of the other major islands. The typical crowd at these sandy-footed spots includes daytime drinkers, beach baskers, and hammock swingers. Not every spot offers good overnight moorings, though, so places like White Bay clear out before sunset when the yachties hightail it to safer anchorages. Once they drop the hook, however, the boaters are ready to boogie, which is why the BVI's best nightlife is adjacent to protected waters like Jost Van Dyke's Great Harbour, Virgin Gorda's North Sound and Spanish Town, Norman Island's Bight, Tortola's Cane Garden Bay, and Beef Island's Trellis Bay. There are no casinos in the BVI, and nightlife—even when it's raucous—is an alfresco boat-shoes-and-nice-shorts affair (though you'll find locals dress better than the tourists) rather than a dressy indoor nightclub scene.
