Concierge.com's insider take:
In an amazing testament to his people-pleasing personality and barefoot entrepreneurship, 2008 will mark the 40th anniversary of Philiciano “Foxy” Callwood's archetypical Caribbean beach bar, Foxy's. The place has certainly grown, from humble tiki bar to tiki bar backed by a full restaurant and facilities vast enough to host Foxy's huge parties (especially his Wooden Boat Regatta in May and Old Year's Eve) that draw thousands to Great Harbour. Foxy still entertains most afternoons, and after having him sing songs poking fun at their sunburn, picture-taking abilities, and hometown (he's incredibly well-traveled), guests can dig into a satisfying roti or burger lunch (kitchen opens at 11:30 am) or an excellent West Indian–style dinner of lobster or fresh fish with peas 'n rice or, on Thursdays and Fridays, barbecued ribs, chicken, and mahi mahi. Foxy's most recent expansion was to the other side of the island, where he built Foxy's Taboo. This is gourmet dining (wild boar, artisanal pizzas) where you'd least expect it, tucked into a secluded corner of Jost Van Dyke. For boaters, Taboo is an ideal stop after playing Gilligan on picturesque Sandy Spit. Dock and moorings available.
Open daily 9:30 am until the crowds leave (usually in the wee hours of the night). Closed mid-August to mid-October.
