British Virgin Islands see + do

The British Virgin Islands are the yachting capital of the Caribbean, if not the world, and getting into that lifestyle—sunning, swimming, snorkeling, sailing, beach-hopping, and always dropping anchor in time for happy hour—is what the islands are all about. With the exception of Anegada and a few dollop-size cays, the islands are volcanic, hilly, and covered in dry green scrub. So while you'll find some great ocean overlooks atop Tortola and Virgin Gorda, these are not great islands for hiking. Instead, look to the blue for activities: Concentrate on sailing above, diving below, and floating on the warm clear water. With this in mind, we've exclusively listed beaches for the major islands (Jost Van Dyke, Tortola, Virgin Gorda) in addition to our picks for the best diving, yachting, lesser-known islands, and hideaway coves.
