Even though budget troubles have delayed Hungary's adoption of the euro until at least 2010, many Budapest hotels have already abandoned the forint in favor of the European Union currency. This means rates are often comparable to those in Western Europe's capitals, especially when it comes to swank international chains such as the Four Seasons. Fortunately, the style, service, atmosphere, and locations of the city's best hotels are all well above average: Stay in Buda for easy access to historic Castle Hill and the ornate Gellért baths, or Pest, on the eastern side of the Danube, to be near the colorful Jewish district, great restaurants, and much of the city's happening nightlife.
