Budapest see + do

Some of the best things to see and do in Budapest—walking around, admiring the city's architecture and its vibrant street life—don't take much "doing" at all. By all means, take the long stroll down Pest's tree-lined Andrássy, the local version of the Champs-Elysées, past the opera, musical, and puppet theaters, as well as about a billion cafés, decadent fin de siècle town houses, and plush hotels. You'll know when you reach the end: The giant statuary palisade at Heroes' Square practically orders you to stop. The marble-laden Museum of Fine Arts, nearby, is a good place to cool off.
