Concierge.com's insider take:
With its outsize neon signage and landmark green-marble facade, the Castelar Hotel & Spa has been cutting an impressive figure on the Avenida de Mayo since 1929. It was here that the Spanish writer Federico García Lorca lived and worked for a year (his room is open to the public), and it remains a comfortable choice in B.A.'s bustling downtown. There's a hushed, unfussy elegance to the place, with its handsome marble lobby, decent rooms, Finnish saunas, and Turkish baths.
