This is place is very nice, no question, but at this price point I think it should be even nicer.
Part of the problem for me is that I'm not a big fan of the layout. It's reminiscent of Post Ranch, with most of the rooms as freestanding structures strung along a long road. But without the views of the ocean that you have at PR, it just seems odd to me - especially when so many of them are right on top of each other, offering less than normal privacy. And the layout of the lodges themselves also strike me as odd. We had two medium sized rooms, but they were separated by an outdoor deck. We were encouraged to think of it as three rooms - two indoor, one outdoor...hmmm... but it was cold and the outdoor "room" was not private, so it was more like we had two small rooms a very short walk from each other. It would have been much cozier and roomier if they were connected. Our outdoor spa was the round, plastic, above ground variety - seemed a little cheap, to be honest. The bathroom in the room was lovely, however - loved the lotions, soaps etc.
Our massages at the Bathhouse/spa were great (Michelle gave me the deepest deep tissue massage of my life), but I was disappointed to find no steam rooms or single sex soaking pools - there's a small co-ed pool in the middle of the waiting area - not relaxing or private. So we opted to pay for a private pool for 30mins - nice and warm, but no jets (and additional cost).
We had breakfast at the Lake House daily - good, but not great enough to convince us to eat any other meals there - too much special stuff elsewhere.
The service throughout was great - everyone was very friendly and efficient.
So, very nice place, but at $1400/nt, I want to be WOWed and I wasn't - I think you can do better for this price.
