I've stayed at HH six or seven times through the years. There are many things I LOVE about this hotel: its location in the center of one of my favorite towns in the whole world, its modern yet warm design, its color "palette" with heavy emphasis on green (my fav), the gorgeous artwork, the pillowtop beds with sweet smelling, soft linens, the long, nicely heated pool surrounded by cypress, olive and lime trees, the yummy, extensive and complimentary breakfast, the great massages (Emily) in beautiful treatment rooms, the body and bath lotions in the room that smell better than any others, the friendly effecient bell staff etc etc.
And there is one thing I HATE about this hotel - the noise level in the rooms on the square. All the large suites face the square, and we always choose one of those suites. And boy do they need soundproof glass. Healdsburg Ave is a busy thoroughfare, and every single noice makes it into the room, they even sound mangnified. Delivery trucks at 4:30am, leaf blowers at 6am, conversations from Dry Creek's outdoor area through the afternoon and evening - nothing is sparred - they all sound like they're in the room with you. It drives me insane. I'd like to offer to install soundproof glass in my favorite rooms myself - maybe in exchange for a lifetime discount? I obviously keep going back - I can't resist it. But at least once during every single trip I curse some poor soul out on the street or the square - SHUT UP!!! and/or I curse HH - install some soundproofing!!!! :)
