It was amazing doing the boat trip up from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. Like Vietnam the river is the life of Cambodia but arriving in Tonle Sap was incredible. As far as the eye could see was water - from horizon to horizon. It took a few hours to traverse Tonle Sap and arrive at Siem Reap to be greeted by chaos and jostling locals wanting to take you to their hotel. FOrtunately we had it already organised from our stay in Phnom Penh so it was easy. Well worth the time taking the trip from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap.
