I really recommend that anyone travlleing to Vancouver Is., take a drive across the Pacific Rim Hwy.,#4. The drive is beautifully scenic. Starting in Qualicum Beach, you will walk along miles of a pebble beach. Then head towards Cathedral groove, there you can walk a trail, thru the Cathedral Groove. These majestic 800fr. old, Douglas fir trees, will awe you. Next, amongst the mountain, make a stop in Port Alberni. Here watch the fishermen bring in their catch. Drive along the winding, treelined road to Long Beach. Famous for its beautiful sandy beach and driftwood. There are bears along this trail and all the others. Which I did find out, while standing 4ft. from one, along the trail.I backed out of there as quietly as possible. Moving up the coast, head to Tofino. This village has a hippy kind of feel . There are lots of surfers and great restaurants. Here you must get on a pontoon plane and visit one of the surphur islands. I had the opportunity to fly in with a local doctor. Sit beneath the hot waters of the spring and take in the view, of the ocean in front of you. On your flight back to tofino, you may be lucky enough to circle over the humpback whales, buzz by the sea lions, and do a fly by of a bald eagles nest. To finish your day off, sit in a harbourfront restaurant and order yourself an Alaskan king crab. LIFE IS GOOD! report a problem
