Head for the Toronto Islands for pure bliss & contentment

Like a little bliss with your high-octane city excitement? Just take a ferry boat from the Toronto ferry docks (Bay Street Toronto city bus south from Bloor & Yonge streets to the waterfront) to one of the Toronto Islands. There's Centre Island (rent a bike for four people! or go to the amusement park and ride a real train in the summer months), Ward's Island (people live year-round on Ward's Island in candyfloss-coloured cottages), Hanlan's Point on Centre Island (lots of green parks for romantic strolls), and tiny Algonquin Island (lots of boats here). There are no cars allowed anywhere on the Toronto Islands. If you're staying at one of the cute B&Bs on the Islands, you will have your luggage transported for you usually in a red wagon to the B&B. On Ward's Island there is on Lake Ontario a most relaxing restaurant with seating indoors adjacent to a fireplace and outdoors beneath lovely shade trees; it's the Rectory Cafe. The food has an organic high quality bent to it. Imported beer served. There's a tiny sand beach not too far away to stretch out and listen to the birds singing and the children laughing nearby. Or rent a canoe and paddle to your heart's content around the peaceful islands. Summer in the City! report a problem
