Good, but not great

Maybe we were spoiled by our pre-cruise stay at the Shangri- La, but our post-cruise stay at the Fairmont Waterfront was only okay. I won't say it was bad, but it just wasn't up to the level of the Shangri-La. The Fairmont, even though we had requested an early check-in for two adjoining rooms, had neiter one ready for us, and we had to wait over an hour to get either one. Admittedly, our cruise ship arrived at 7:00 AM, and by the time we disembarked, it was nearly 8:45 AM, but we had notified the hotel of this when making the arrangements. The registration desk was understaffed, resulting in about a 15-minute delay. The rooms were large, very nice, the beds were comfortable, and wi-fi was free, although it was confusing, as we kept getting a message that we were being charged. It took two calls to the front desk to get clarification that the message was meaningless. There were two problems we had with the rooms: 1) supposedly we got an upgrade--we were moved from the 11th floor to the 4th floor (sounds like a downgrade to me); and 2) one of the rooms had a partially-obscured view of the harbor. The location is right on the harbor, so it could be considered either great or not-so-great, depending on one's perspective. Would I stay there again? Not if Shangri-La were available.
