My wife and I travelled to Jasper, Alberta last fall. Not only is the Jasper Tramway a great visit, the whole town and area were fabulous! We arrived by train; picked up a Hertz car conveniently located in the train station, then set out for our Canadian Rockies stay. The Hertz staff were extremely informative and soon had us touring to close in sites while we waited for our hotel room to be ready. I could go on and on about how friendly everyone was and the spectacular scenery, but one thing that really stood out was the number of really good restaurants in the town. Also, we came across a special liquor store in an Esso gas station. Special because they had an amazing selection of wines and for me Scotches in a tiny store. Be sure to stop there before you hit your hotel as prices in the hotel lounges were fair, but high. Our last day was travelling from Jasper to Banff. What a highway!! If you've never driven this road, you are missing a life time experience. Make this trip "one for the bucket list". We then stayed in Banff and area another 3 days, but when we headed to catch our plane in Calgary, my wife and I were quick to note that we spent too much time in Banff and not near enough in Jasper. We found the Calgary airport was clear across the city, but we had wonderful directions from when we picked our car up in Jasper and that made our departure quick and uneventful. After boarding our Delta flight home, we are now planning a return visit to the Canadian Rockies in the next couple of years.
