Central Vietnam hotels
Hotels in central Vietnam have sprouted up quickly and prodigiously since the mid-1990s, after decades of conflict and restrictive Communist policies that hindered hotel investment. Six Senses set off a construction boom after selecting Nha Trang as the site of Vietnam's first luxury beach resort. Many hotels followed, most of them perching on pristine beaches or bustling riverbanks. Thankfully, even the most secluded are never more than ten miles from town.
The old backpacker hotels still thrive in Nha Trang, but there is a range of accommodation all along the coast, including Vietnam's most sumptuous all-villa resorts such as Evason Ana Mandara. The region's best hotels are privately held and especially tourist-friendly, with most offering excellent concierge service, free shuttles, help with transfers, and reliable telecommunications. Nha Trang attracts more than its share of honeymooners and beach lovers, while Hue and Hoi An appeal to independent travelers in search of history, culture, and great shopping deals. Although you can spend a small fortune at some of the highest-of-high-end resorts, you can also find luxury for much less, especially in Hue and Hoi An.
