view web site ›'s insider take:

The Clubhouse is a boutique hotel in an Art Deco mansion that was given a $1.5 million refurb in 2005. It has seven stylish rooms with accommodation for up to 20 guests, a bar and restaurant, spa, and a clubhouse lounge (linked to private member's club Milk & Honey in New York and London). The idea was to create a hotel with rooms to suit all pockets. At the top of the range is the Myla Suite, which has a custom-made nine-foot bed, double shower, and great views to Mont Blanc. At the other end of the price scale is the Bunkhouse, a luxury dorm for six people. All rooms have Frette linen, teak-decked rainforest showers, flat-screen TVs and DVD players. Breakfast and dinner are included in the price. Bookings are for stays of three or four nights or for whole weeks only.

Open mid-December through September.

From the editors of Condé Nast Traveler:
Chamonix has been made safe for the Wallpaper set with the opening of this seven-room hotel, carved out of a 1927 Art Deco mansion with gorgeous views of Mont Blanc. The atmosphere is akin to a house party, since two of the rooms are "bunkhouse" suites that can sleep from five to seven hard-skiing, hard-partying types. Accommodations are luxuriously kitted out with feather comforters, fur hot-water bottles and throws, flat-screen TVs, wireless Internet access, and power showers. There are a variety of massages on offer to ease your aching limbs after a day on the slopes; alternatively, get cozy in front of the fire in the Clubhouse Bar, which ups the ante on après-ski with everything from unpasteurized local beers to rare Armagnacs. Marc Serres, the best chef in the Chamonix Valley, oversees the kitchen.—2005 Hot List

When to go: Christmas through late January is ideal.

Which room to book: The Myla Suite, for its oversized bed and killer views of Mont Blanc
