I was just recently at the Commune, and highly recommend it. The place is laid out in a beautiful, picturesque setting, and the contrast between the ultra modern designs of the buildings and furnishings with the remote natural setting of the grounds is almost zen-like. It has a private section of the Great Wall that you can access on foot from the property, and it is also easy to access other areas of the Wall via a short ride in a car.
The staff was very accomodating, and helpful. Everyone we met was extremely nice!
Because the Commune is so remote, be prepared to eat most, if not all, meals there. The food is good - they have both a western-style and chinese-style dining rooms.
