Colonial Williamsburg hotels
The not-for-profit educational Colonial Williamsburg Foundation has a Disney-ish monopoly on lodging near the historic area. The five official hotels offer various packages with reduced-price tickets, plus perks like first dibs on tavern tables and other facilitiesnotably the 45-hole Golden Horseshoe Golf Club, with its Gold (Robert Trent Jones) and Green (Rees Jones) courses. Four of the five lodgings (Governor's Inn, Williamsburg Inn, Williamsburg Lodge, and Woodlands Hotel & Suites) lie just outside the historic area, while the fifththe Colonial Housesis part of that living history. Off campus, pickings are slim: B&Bs; the full house of Days Inn, Comfort Inn, Ramada, and their ilk; and one upscale option, Hospitality House, which is popular with parents of William & Mary students. But hey: Go Colonial. Why else are you here?
