Colonial Williamsburg restaurants

Dining at one of Williamsburg's three functioning Colonial taverns is all about soaking up the 18th-century atmosphere: the mobcapped serving wenches and aproned lackeys; the pewter candlesticks, brass sconces, and thick wooden trestles; the visit from balladeers and the actor "host." And while you're not here for the culinary experience, the food, it ends up, is pretty good. Call ahead if you're visiting between January and March, when the taverns close sporadically for renovations.
