prev Best Resort in Costa Rica

My family and I have stayed at Lapa Rios twice. The first time we only stayed for a few days. But we loved it so much we decided to return the next year and spend a week. The resort itself is beyond beautiful with some of the best views, especially from the bungalows, that can be found anywhere in the world. The bungalow with its private deck was perfect for our family with a beautiful bathroom and plenty of room to relax. Your bungalow make you feels as if you are in your own private jungle. The staff is incredible and very attentive to all our needs. The guides were very knowledgeable and eager to show us the different monkeys, birds and other species. The food is above average and the restaurant is fantastic. Its a unique experience to be surrounded by a beautiful jungle teaming with wildlife yet next to a beautiful beach without the swarm of tourists that you get up north. We spent a few afternoons surfing and just walking the beaches watching all the wildlife and checking out the fauna. Kids love the place and why not with howler monkeys calling in the morning, the squirrel monkeys making their way home around 4 PM everyday by passing the pool and the scarlet macaws lounging in those same trees during the day. However, the resort is situated on a high cliff so there is much walking up and down. We would not recommend the resort for kids under 10. It has been a two years since we were last at Lapa Rios and after traveling much of Costa Rica over the past four years, we are planning our next trip back to the resort.
