While travelling in Costa Rica in a rental car, we discovered that many roadways are not what Americans would call "roads". Many appeared to be "paths". However, we ventured down many only to find that they lead to beautiful, unspoiled beaches, abundant wildlife and friendly people. As with anywhere one travels, offer mutual respect, don't be fearful if you don't understand the process and remember to enjoy each small experience. Don't be in such a hurry to get to your destination or activity of the day that you forget to enjoy the unplanned. We stopped to observe some howler monkeys in the trees and found that they have a rather funny sense of humor...they like to relieve themselves when folks are standing below.
