Costa Rica offers what ever type of accommodations, comforts, and interests a traveler may desire. There are lavish resorts with every need accounted for, hotels providing a nice room and a view, and inexpensive hostels in many locations. Renting a vehicle is easily done, and so is scheduling transportation with a company. The roads are treacherous, and sometimes impassable in smaller vehicles. Local transportation is good and cheap. With access to two oceans, this diminutive country provides miles and miles of beaches, mountains, volcanoes, hot springs, national parks, marine parks, zip lines, rivers (w/rafting), canals, indigenous sites, historical sites, beautiful vistas, and quiet islands. There are opportunities to see sea turtles, sloths, crabs, monkeys, birds, frogs, iguanas, geckos, peccaries, alligators, snakes, coatis, bats, butterflies and so many more critters! Travel in Costa Rica is easily done, but for those of us from more hurried countries, remember "Pura Vida" is more then just a slogan, its a way of life. Take the time to relax, enjoy the region your in, and allow extra time. "Tico Time" can be a problem if things are too scheduled - things run at a relaxed pace, maybe starting a little later then advertised, be understanding, and patient. The food is wonderful, ask locals where to eat, not only will you get to talk to someone interesting, but you will also get to eat at a good local place. On the ocean fish is the thing. Enjoy a good dish of Ceviche, have a fried fish, some jugo de fruita - fruit juice - made fresh, there are so many delicious things to eat! Stay for as long as possible, you won't regret it. If your not comfortable 'going it alone' make plans through a travel group, there are tours, and packages offered to every region and set of interests imaginable. Get a good map. Costa Rica is a wonderful place to visit, many people go, and end up staying. It is truly the jewel of Central America. report a problem
