If you are around in July, stay in Avignon during their theatre festival. It is the biggest theatre festival in France- so book early! But every night is full of frivolity, hundreds of street performers, rides, balloons, famous people, and fun shows. The entire city is literally plastered in every corner with show posters and there are fun interactive advertising gimmicks at every turn. Besides being involved and entertained, wined and dined, I found myself dragged into a French street show as the leading lady and meeting some of the most interesting characters of my life. It was a thrill and I could not imagine visiting Avignon at any other time. Stay in Avignon and travel by bus and train around Provence for an amazing trip. report a problem
