Dalmatian Coast see + do

The Dalmatian coast is not simply another beach destination. Sure, it does have a lot of beaches (though they're more pebble-strewn than sandy), and a variety of water sports, and even beautiful people. But the way of life along the coast is a true throwback: It remains noncommercialized in a way you could only fantasize about on most of the Italian coast. People still live in old medieval seaside cities or traditional island villages, and you'll hear them talk and argue about history as if the events in the 1300s had happened in their lifetimes. It's a magical mix, more than just the sum of the parts listed below. In fact, our strongest recommendation is simply this: Sit at a café, order an espresso, and watch the locals take their evening stroll down the cobblestone main drag of whatever island you happen to end up on.
