A great way to waste away a rainy day

Copenhagen is known as the Design Capital of the World, and this spot may be its best asset. Over the course of two days I probably spent three hours in this store, getting lost in its many nooks and crannies, stumbling down a couple of steps and ending up in an as-of-yet unseen room. (Or store, in fact; I inadvertently carried an item I was intending to purchase into the adjoining Royal Copenhagen store by accident.) The ground floor is mostly housewares, with Georg Jensen, Normann DK, Rosendahl, and other Danish and Scandinavian brands being the focal point. But the best part is the top floor, which is where you'll find furniture, lighting, and more. It's all wicked expensive, and I don't think any of it was exclusive to the store, but they certainly had the biggest selection of anywhere in CPH. (The main Illums store, a few blocks north on the Stroget, had many of the same items from the first floor but carried a much larger selection of small kitchen appliances, including the drool-worthy Technivorm Moccamaster coffeemaker from Holland.)
