Devon + Cornwall restaurants
It all started with celebrity chef Rick Stein, whose fish restaurants put Padstow on the culinary map and set in motion what people in these parts termed the "Stein Effect." Top chef establishments and cool bistros have been popping up all over the place, from John Burton-Race's New Angel to Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Cornwall. Fortunately, all the buzz around the newcomers hasn't completely overtaken the clotted clotted-cream teas of Devon or the Cornish pasty of Cornwall (every bakery sells them), and it would be sacrilege not to partake in large amounts of both while here.
