Concierge.com's insider take:
The eight colorful, thatch-roofed bungalows and villas that make up this no-frills resort are popular with French bohemian couples and families. There's enough luxury here to keep the tropical-oasis vibe: The property has lush green gardens, a secluded beachfront, a generous-sized pool, and private open-air showers. But most of the 32 rooms come sans TV and air-conditioning, and the locally made rattan furniture, louvered shutters, and ceiling fans are cute but basic. Some of the units have ocean views, and all are just a short walk from the wide pristine beach where the calm water is perfect for swimming. A complimentary breakfast with fresh local fruit, pastries, and eggs is served each morning in the modest restaurant. At dinnertime though, it's best to grab a taxi to the town of Las Terrenas, where there are a slew of beachfront eateries to choose from.
