There is no more authentic, and cheap way to scope out a new place than to take a ride on a popular public bus route. Grab some bread and cheese from the corner mart and spend a few hours getting lost and found, acquainting yourself with some locals, and getting a sense of the currency, geography, and aambiance of a new city. In bigger jaunts like London and NYC this is a sure-fire way to see a special, out-of-the way place that you'd never find in a guidebook, and save a few bucks in the process. report a problem
